Visit to EDIH SynergInn: Together towards a cleaner and digital Southeast Europe

What happens when two digital hubs from Bulgaria and Greece meet at the interface between industry, technology and regional development?

This is exactly what happened during the visit on July 2, 2025 of EDIH Zagore to EDIH SynergInn – the European digital hub for Western Macedonia. The meeting passed with a very energizing exchange of ideas, experiences and visions for the future. We discussed not only what we do today – training, technology testing, access to finance, digital audits – but also why we do it: to create real value for businesses, the public sector and local communities.

We are united by our focus on clean energy, a topic that is particularly relevant for both regions in transition. While SynergInn is developing conceptual models and research capacity, in Stara Zagora we already have a functioning training and testing environment for hydrogen technologies, open to users and pilot projects.

We need not just good ideas, but places where they can happen. This is what we can build together as the EDIH network in South East Europe – it became clear during the workshop with the EDIH SynergInn team and Mr Nikolaos Ploskas.

In this spirit, we are preparing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share equipment and expertise, paving the way for a longer-term and more practical partnership.

In September, the first online meeting of EDIHs from Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia and Albania will take place. The aim – to build a regional initiative with a focus on shared resources, joint projects and a common attendance event this autumn.
