Vision
The vision of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Zagore is to build an environment for innovation and a sustainable future for the South East Region of Bulgaria. The main goal is to be the engine of digital transformation and decarbonisation in the region, achieving equality and competitiveness in the European context.
Our efforts are focused on fostering a society in which innovation and digital technologies are a fundamental prerequisite for sustainable development and quality of life.
Mission
The mission of EDIH “Zagore” is to promote and support digitalization and innovation in the Southeast region of Bulgaria. We believe that through digital and green solutions we can transform and modernize both the private and public sectors. Our mission includes the following aspects:
The transition to green technologies and sustainable practices is essential for the future of the Southeast region. EDIH Zagore will support and promote projects and initiatives that reduce the negative environmental footprint and support decarbonisation.
Innovation is the key and integral part of modern economic development and achieving competitiveness. EDIH Zagore supports entrepreneurs, researchers and start-up companies in the region, providing them with the necessary resources and platforms to develop new ideas, technologies and products.
At EDIH Zagore we are aware that cooperation with other regions and countries is essential for the successful achievement of our goals. We are always open to partnerships and knowledge exchange in order to strengthen the regional and international innovation network.
At EDIH Zagore, we have identified two leading priorities for the region – Mechatronics and Clean Technology (MCT) and Life and Health Science (LHS). Our mission includes fostering innovation and development in these areas, thereby supporting the diversity and specialisation of the region’s economy.
EDIH Zagore aims to become a centre of innovation and digital technologies in the South-Eastern region of Bulgaria. We work in partnership with interested organisations and businesses to achieve a more sustainable and prosperous future for the region and its citizens.
We created EDIH Zagore with the clear responsibility that each of its members has towards the transformation of the region and its communities towards clean and new technologies in all areas of socio-economic life.
By creating the website of EDIH Zagore, we wanted to involve another part of the community – the creative youth in the region. We would like to thank the teachers and students from the National School of Plastic Arts and Design “Dechko Uzunov” – Kazanlak for the graphic vision that transformed one of the shrines of the city and the country into the dimensions of the digital age.

Innovative Strategy for Intelligent Specialization
Mechatronics, clean technologies and green transition
- IoT systems;
- autonomous energy systems;
- machinery and components assembly, components and systems with focus on the clean transport and energy;
- robotics and automatization of processes, including 3D modelling of robotized and automized systems;
- waste-free technologies and methods for incorporating waste products and materials from production into other projects;
- technologies with a focus on transport and energy (energy storage, conservation and efficient distribution), eco-mobility, hydrogen-based models and technologies
Life and health science
- 3D modeling and printing in the veterinary medicine;
- production of bio food and beverages (incl. baby and infant foods, space food));
- production of new generation instruments and equipment for medical and dental diagnostics and therapy and participation in supranational production chains;
- biotechnology for direct application for a healthy lifestyle;
- methods for clean production, storage, processing of specific Bulgarian products e.g. yoghurt, honey and bee products, bread, wine, meat products, essential oils, beer, herbal products and cosmetics;
- intelligent agriculture technologies;
- testing and certifying of products and services;
- development of the nanotechnologies in the medicine
