10 training sessions with 240 participations: EDIH “Zagore” is developing digital skills in Bulgaria

In February and March 2026, the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) “Zagore” conducted a series of 10 training sessions focused on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the development of digital competencies for training instructors. The sessions were held in six locations—Stara Zagora, Kazanlak, Maglizh, Radnevo, Kyustendil, and Dobrich—and a total of 240 participants attended the training sessions.

In the context of accelerated digital transformation, acquiring new technological skills is becoming an increasingly important prerequisite for effective professional development, safe work in a digital environment, and the successful use of modern technologies. To this end, the Zagore ECIH offers practice-oriented training programs that tailor the capabilities of artificial intelligence and digital tools to the needs of various social and professional groups.

February: Start of an intensive training program

In February, four in-person training sessions were held, with a total of 83 participants. The training series began on February 17 in Kyustendil, where 12 people took part in an event organized in the hall of the Kiliya School.

On February 24 and 25, the initiatives continued in Stara Zagora at the “Zahari Knyazheski” Regional Library. The two training sessions each drew 9 participants and provided additional opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in working with modern digital technologies.

On February 26, the largest in-person training session of the past two months took place in Muglizh. The event, held at the “Mladost” Senior Citizens’ Club, drew 53 participants—a sign of the significant interest in digital skills and the need for accessible training at the local level.

March: Expanding the Scope and New Opportunities for Participation

In March, the training program continued with six more events, which drew a total of 157 participants.

On March 2, an online training session was held with 37 participants. The remote format provided an additional opportunity for participation regardless of physical location and demonstrated the potential of digital technologies to expand access to knowledge.

On March 4, the initiatives returned to Stara Zagora with a training session at the “Georgi Raichev” Elementary School, which drew 36 participants.

The program continued on March 17 in Dobrich, where 27 people participated in the training session held at Dimitar Talev Elementary School.

On March 20, the “Zahari Knyazheski” Regional Library in Stara Zagora once again hosted an educational initiative with 11 participants.

On March 24, a training session attended by 25 people was held in Kazanlak, in the hall of the Youth Center.

The two-month series concluded on March 31 in Radnevo, where 21 participants took part in a training session organized at Geo Milev Elementary School.

Digital Skills – Practical Knowledge for Today’s Challenges

A key focus of the training initiatives was the development of skills related to the use of artificial intelligence, digital security, and the practical applications of modern technologies.

That is why developing digital literacy and the ability to critically evaluate information is just as important as knowing how to use specific tools.

Затова развитието на дигитална култура и умения за критично оценяване на информацията е също толкова важно, колкото и познаването на конкретните инструменти.

By conducting training sessions in various communities and a variety of public spaces—such as schools, libraries, youth clubs, and senior centers— EDIH Zagore demonstrates its commitment to making digital knowledge accessible to a wider audience.

The results from February and March indicate sustained interest in opportunities to improve digital skills. Over the course of those two months, nine in-person training sessions and one online training session were held, with the largest number of in-person sessions—four—taking place in Stara Zagora.

EDIH “Zagore” Continues to Support Digital Transformation
