EDIH Zagore participated in a meeting of the Balkan hubs

On 3-4 April 2025, representatives of EDIH Zagore and REDA – Stara Zagora participated in the international conference “S.E. Europe and Cross-Border Cooperation: Challenges & Perspectives” in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The event brought together digital innovators, experts and visionaries from the region, united around the idea of stronger cross-border cooperation and a sustainable digital future. In a special panel dedicated to the role of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) in South East Europe, Hristo Hristov from EDIH Zagore shared how we work with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), how we use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to increase efficiency and reduce waste in industry, and how we innovate to change the rules of the game.

Participants in the panel were also representatives of hubs from Greece (Kozani and Larissa), North Macedonia, Albania and Bulgaria.

Among the Bulgarian participants were also Boris Varbanov from the team of REDA – Stara Zagora and Kaloyan Vyrlyakov, deputy director of the Medical College at Trakia University in Stara Zagora.

The forum ended with an informal coordination meeting, which outlined the next steps for building sustainable collaboration between the hubs in the Balkans – because the digital future has no borders!
